Maintenance burnished brass
BRASS
Warm. Inviting. Alluring.
The prestige of brass comes from its highly sought after bronze look and high performance with resistance to corrosion. Brombal uses an OT67 alloy which contains 67% copper creating its high resistance to corrosion, while the remaining 33% zinc increases its mechanical properties such as hardness and tensile strength.
A main characteristic of this alloy is to naturally oxidize when in contact with air while unchanging its physical features, in turn creating a beautiful patina reminiscent of antique bronze making it ideal for restoration or new projects. This look joins elegance with tradition. The self-protection generated by the natural oxidation process makes the final product ideal for harsh and marine environments.

THE IMPORTANCE OF CLEANING
Environmental residue inevitably finds its way onto windows and doors. Microscopic build up can form from different environmental elements such as dirt, debris, salt, air, and pollution. In addition, biological growth including mildew, can also develop on northern-facing facades, under eaves, or on any heavily shaded surface that remains damp. Over time, pollutants can slowly erode the paint coating, leading to unsightly aesthetics, and potentially, corrosion. The only solution to keeping Brombal windows and doors in pristine condition is thorough and consistent cleaning of the surface.
HOW TO CLEAN BURNISHED BRASS
WARNING
Windows and Doors are very sensitive to scratches!
NEVER use pointed objects, sharp tools, razors, etc on glass or frame surfaces.

GLASS
Use plenty of CLEAN water and a mild household cleaning agent, such as soap, and apply with a clean cloth or sponge. Exchange water frequently ensuring there is no sand/dirt in the solution. Rinse cloths/sponges frequently.
BURNISHED BRASS
The use of detergents, steel wool, acidic solutions, solvent, alkaline detergents can ruin the finish of the profile. Soap and warm water may be safely applied using a soft, clean cloth. All dirt and debris should be removed from gasketing, thresholds and between all frame surfaces. After rinsing with water, the surfaces should be dried using a clean cloth. Contact a Brombal representative before applying any cleaner stronger than non-alkaline detergent.
