SDL & TDL OPTIONS
The simulated divided lite system is composed of one piece of glass with a surface applied muntin grid on the interior and exterior side of the glass, while the true divided lite system has multiple panes of glass that are installed individually and separated by muntins.

TRUE DIVIDED LITE
Brombal’s true divided lite (TDL) system is the most traditional method of dividing a window with grids. Metal profiles are used to compose a grid and multiple small glass panes are separated by muntins to divide the windows in your desired pattern. With multiple glazing bead profiles to choose from, you can create a more traditional or modern appearance.

ADVANTAGES
The main advantage of the true divided lite configuration is the strong stability of the structure and simple maintenance should a single piece of glass be damaged and require replacement. The single piece of glass can be changed out or repaired much more easily and less expensively than a window with one large glass piece.

ADVANTAGES
The main advantage of simulated divided lite windows and doors is the glass performance. When one big pane of glass is utilized, it allows for greater thermal efficiency compared to a number of true divided lites. Additionally, an SDL unit utilizing a smaller profile provides a narrower sightline to that of a TDL and replicates a traditional style window. SDL units offer a great variety of muntin shapes and patterns.
SIMULATED DIVIDED LITE
Brombal’s simulated divided lite (SDL) system provides a realistic appearance to that of a true divided lite, despite being lighter and constructed differently. The SDL unit is composed of a single large pane of glass with surface applied muntins attached to both sides of the glass surface. One is welded to the frame and the other is surface applied. Coupled with an interior spacer bar between the glass, this system is indistinguishable from that of a true divided system.
