CASTELFRANCO COR-TEN RESIDENCE – thermally broken CorTen steel profiles and high performance

External View of the villa made of corten steel

The idea was to turn a one-story existing building of the 60’s into a highly energy efficient villa with a strong character given by the use of extremely modern architectural elements. All the fenestration systems were made with thermally broken CorTen steel profiles and high performance Low-E glass. The sloped roof was created with a pre-oxidized copper cladding. One of the masterpieces of the house is for sure the 700 pound customized pivoting front door. The door utilized Cor-Ten frames, insulated panels in combination with laminated glass inserts with white oak rounded hardware pulls for super soft touch.
